The ACEnet (Arts and Cultural Education Network) event is being hosted by the Arts Council of Wales’ Creative Learning Cymru team, who are celebrating their own milestone this year as they mark 10 years of Creative Learning Cymru, a programme that has transformed teaching and learning through the arts across Wales.
Sian James, Creative Learning Cymru Programme Manager said,
“We’re very much looking forward to coming together with over 30 partners from across the UK and Europe, especially in this special moment where we are celebrating our own 10-year anniversary. We’ve got a packed programme organised, including panel discussions, hands-on creative sessions, collaborative discussions on implementing arts education policies and reflective activities that will deepen our collective understanding of creative learning and evaluation.”
Delegates will also visit local Cardiff schools visits Moorland Primary and Ysgol Hamadryad to see creative learning in action.
Cabinet Secretary for Education, Lynne Neagle MS said:
“I am very pleased that the Arts Council of Wales is hosting this major forum for arts and cultural education policy makers from across Europe. The Welsh Government places great emphasis on the importance of supporting creativity skills. Within the Curriculum for Wales, creativity is one of the skills integral to its four purposes, key to helping our young people to foster their talents and skills and to developing our next generation of well-rounded citizens who participate in all aspects of life and work.
Here in Wales, one of the key avenues for supporting creativity, for both learners and practitioners, has been the Creative Learning through the Arts programme. As it has operated since 2015, jointly funded between the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Government, it is entirely appropriate that the considerable successes of this initiative are celebrated as part of this event.”
