We develop international relationships to help grow new markets for Welsh artists. We also want to promote the creative profile of the arts in Wales, encouraging people to understand us, visit us, and work with us.
This happens in three main ways.
Wales Arts International. A partnership between us and British Council, Wales Arts International makes international work in the arts possible through collaborations, projects, networks and communication - making sure that the arts and culture of Wales has international impact and recognition.
Wales in Venice. Established in 1895, the Venice Biennale of Art is the leading international event for the visual arts. It has an attendance of over 500,000 visitors. The Arts Council of Wales has commissioned exhibitions from Welsh artists for this major international event since 2003. Sean Edwards is representing Wales in Venice 2019.
Wales's presence at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival. We help Wales’ performing arts companies to make the most of his huge opportunity to present work to a significant international audience.
