Friends and colleagues at the Arts Council of Wales are saddened to hear of the passing of Ruth Till MBE.
Ruth Till MBE was an Arts Council of Wales Council Member between 2004 and 2010, Chair of the South Wales Regional Committee (2004 – 2010) and also served as one of the Arts Council of Wales’ National Advisors. She was Director of Rubicon Dance (1993-2009). She was also Chair of the Board at Ballet Cymru (2010-2020) and was appointed Patron of the company on her retirement from their Board in 2020. She was also Vice Chair of the Foundation for Community Dance (now People Dancing). In 2005, Ruth was awarded MBE in 2005 for her services for the dance sector in the UK.
Chair of Arts Council of Wales Maggie Russell said,
“Ruth’s passion for dance was profound, and crucial to her impact on dance both here in Wales and beyond was her generosity, coupled with a deep knowledge of her artform. She was both kind and collegiate, and led with a lightness of touch. Her commitment and the light that shone from deep within her touched everyone she met, and she developed a whole generation of dancers. Our thoughts go out to those that knew and loved her at this sad time.”
