Friends and colleagues at the Arts Council of Wales are saddened to hear of the passing of David Jackson OBE.
David played a major part in the Welsh arts sector, holding positions such as the Head of Music, Wales at the BBC, Interim Director of the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales, Vice Principal at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Managing Director of the National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain. Mostly recently, he was Artistic Director of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and Chair of The Board of Trustees, National Youth Arts Wales.
David was made an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022.
David Jackson really was a remarkable man, with a deep, intelligent passion for the arts and the wisdom to know how to really get things done and make a difference.
“A world class leader in his field, so many wonderful programmes and projects in Wales and the world benefitted from his talent. He was a generous and kind colleague with great wit. He will be greatly missed.
