Ambitious multi-arts project by young people from North Wales in collaboration and partnership with internationally renowned artists

As part of The National Gallery's bicentenary celebration, Frân Wen are working with Mostyn gallery in Llandudno and Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller to present Carreg Ateb: Vision or Dream? - an ambitious project that sees new voices given the platform to re-image the relationship between history, identity and creative imagination.

Inspired by the secret journey of National Gallery paintings hidden underground in a slate mine in Eryri during the Second World War, the project offers young people the opportunity to claim their place within the cultural story of Wales - not through a romantic lens, but through a bold approach that explores transformation, personal expression and their aspirations for tomorrow.
