SPAN Arts are proud to present Queer Culture Jam, a collaborative day of workshops, discussions, music, dance and more for our local community to share in the practice and stories of Queer local creatives.

Queer Culture Jam is hosted by broadcaster and writer Damian Kerlin and offers a full day of events, from 11am until midnight, looking at sharing stories and working creatively and collaboratively.

With workshops running throughout the day led by our local Queer creatives, Emily Laurens, Jane Campbell, Samara Van Rijswijk, Anna Sherratt and Niamh Amelia, there is a variety of activities exploring creative practice and identity to enjoy. These workshops will look at portraiture, textiles, storytelling, spoken word, scriptwriting, sci-fi and more as they explore ideas embracing uniqueness, self-identity and sharing your story through creative practice. The panel discussion “Queer Talk - How our identity can influence our practice”, hosted by Damian Kerlin will be both live in front of an audience and streamed online and focusses on what it's like to be a queer creative, finding a path in the creative industries and personal experiences. The day will culminate in a dance party with West-Wales DJ Branwen Munn, where we invite all to come and bask in the creative atmosphere and electric music of this joyful, inclusive event.

Queer Culture Jam will take place on Saturday the 29th of June across two venues in Fishguard, Ffwrn and The Gateway Hub. Evening pizza will be available at Ffwrn. Tickets are free but must be reserved to secure your space. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult to the dance party.
