Oriel Myrddin is preparing to reopen following a major redevelopment. The gallery is seeking proposals from an experienced and creative café operator to manage and run a welcoming, high-quality café within their transformed exhibition venue in Carmarthen Town Centre.

“The café will play an important role in welcoming people into the building, offering visitors a place to pause, connect and reflect. We want it to serve excellent coffee, delicious treats and a warm welcome, with an approach that aligns with our values of sustainability, inclusivity and good design.” Catherine Spring, Gallery Manager.

“We’re looking for a partner who understands the unique environment of a visual arts setting and can provide a food and drink offer that complements our public programme, engages our visitors, and contributes to the vibrant cultural life of the venue.”

Oriel Myrddin is set to reopen with the exhibition, GWRACH | WITCH Clive Hicks-Jenkins: A Fairy Tale Retold, which reimagines the tale of Hansel and Gretel through illustration, object-making and craft. The exhibition invites audiences of all ages to explore the enduring power of storytelling through craft.

Oriel Myrddin is Southwest Wales’s leading space for contemporary visual arts and craft. The major redevelopment will create a bold, inspiring public space that celebrates imagination, skill and creative exchange.

“We believe that without artists and their work, the quality of life in our communities would be considerably poorer. Through our programme and partnerships, we aim to create space for connection, inspiration and new perspectives. We’re looking for a café partner who shares our commitment to quality, creativity and care.”
