We’re excited to share an opportunity for an artist or collective, aged 18-30 years, living or working within an hour of Peak’s sites, to create artwork for the windows of Peak’s Platfform 2 spaces. This will be the third and final commission in the 2024-25 season, following Ffion William’s Cymraeg Ddrwg and Zeta Zentella’s Place of Transit, currently on display.
To shape the call-out, we’ve collaborated with writer and artist Kandace Siobhan Walker, who grew up in the nearby Welsh borders.
Wherever borders are drawn, openings are created. The struggle to define who and where we are can be transformative, altering our understanding of identity and place.
Why are borderlands so often regions of resistance, reclamation and renewal?
What unique cultural, linguistic and artistic forms have originated from borderlands?
What wild and strange possibilities, have emerged from this tension — and what else might?
