Brand-new mixed choir, Aloud Voices, has put a call out for new members of all abilities and voice types aged 9 to 25 across South Wales.
Facilitated by The Aloud Charity, Aloud Voices aims to inspire and develop vocal talent in a fun, supportive environment — via weekly rehearsals in various locations, just north of Cardiff.
Aloud Voices is made up of three choirs:
- Aloud Junior Voices, for children in school years 5 and 6 (previously Only Kids Aloud);
- Aloud Intermediate Voices, for young people in school years 7 to 9;
- and Aloud Voices, for those in school year 10 up to age 25.
Both the Junior and Intermediate groups are run by professional freelance choir leaders, with our senior group led by Craig Yates — Aloud’s Creative Director and member of Classical Brit Award-winners, Only Men Aloud.
Members will benefit from local, international and televised performance opportunities, taking part in events such as international competitions, international touring, singing in concert venues across the UK and around the world, and cultural exchange programmes — increasing confidence, building a sense of community and developing life-skills in the process.
What’s more, subsidised subscriptions and bursaries are also available for low-income families — plus a sibling discount for those with multiple children who want to take part.
Carys Wynne Morgan, Chief Executive Officer at Aloud, said:
“We have seen the positive impact of our work on young people over the last 15 years. In today’s cultural climate, we feel it’s more important than ever for young people to have access to creative opportunities like those Aloud offers.
“Here at Aloud, we’re all about learning, performing and building confidence — with free Aloud Voices taster sessions available to give young people a flavour of what makes our community so special.
“Aloud Junior Voices is our new name for Only Kids Aloud. We’re hoping to provide the same incredible experiences, such as singing in Disneyland Paris and at The National Eisteddfod, but in a way that’s more connected to our other activities. It’s also the perfect opportunity for previous members of Only Girls Aloud to continue their singing journeys as part of the Aloud family.”
The parent of a 2024 Only Kids Aloud member added:
“My daughter had an absolutely fantastic experience. All of the staff at Aloud have been great with the kids — encouraging them to be the best they can be.
“My daughter has grown in confidence, skills and has made lots of new friends. She’s been given unbelievable opportunities that she wouldn’t otherwise have had — and I know she has made memories which will last a lifetime.”
