Could you be one of the next Visiting Artists at Tanio’s Breathing Space Ignite programme?

Tanio would like to commission:

Visiting Artists to deliver workshops with adults on our Breathing Space Ignite (BSI) programme, culminating in a sharing event in the summer of 2025.

This opportunity is open to artists of all disciplines; BSI participants have expressed an interest in songwriting and sculpture, but are also open to trying new things.

The project:

BSI is a programme of weekly creative wellbeing workshops run by different lead artists in 7 locations across South Wales (6 in Bridgend County and 1 in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taff).  The workshops run for 42 weeks of the year, with each group focusing on a different art form. Our aim is to support the mental health and wellbeing of the participants, while building confidence and self-esteem and helping combat loneliness and isolation.

Currently we have groups with singing, music, visual arts, craft, and creative writing – in some cases these groups will have been working in their art form for several years.

The Visiting Artist will come in and and run 5 workshops per location to give participants a taste of something new. Your workshops could link up with what the groups already do, or be completely stand alone. We’d really like to hear from specialists and unique artists. We welcome expressions of interest from artists of diverse backgrounds.

The times, locations and current art forms for each group are as follows:

Monday           1 – 2.30pm      Central Bridgend         music

Tuesday           11 – 1pm          Ogmore Vale               visual arts

Wednesday     11 – 1pm          Bettws                         visual arts/craft

Wednesday     11 – 1pm          Porthcawl                    singing

Thursday         11 – 1pm          Maesteg                      creative writing

Friday              10 – 11.30pm  Pontypridd                  visual arts/craft

Friday              1 – 3pm            Bryngarw                    visual arts
