Sometimes we, or our partners, won’t be able to fund your project or idea. In these cases, you might find it helpful to look at our list of other sources of funding available in Wales.

Sometimes we work with expert industry-specific bodies to distribute funding on our behalf. Examples include Ffilm Cymru Wales and Literature Wales (detailed below).

Ffilm Cymru Wales

Established in 2006 and formerly known as the Film Agency for Wales, Ffilm Cymru Wales has a remit to help to develop a film sector in Wales and maximise the economic, educational and cultural benefits of film. Ffilm Cymru Wales supports Welsh or Wales-based writers, directors and producers with development and production funding, industry assistance and mentoring opportunities. It aims to bring film makers and audiences together by encouraging more people to see more films in more venues. Ffilm Cymru Wales also promote the use of film in education and community regeneration, producing educational resources in conjunction with teachers to aid literacy and general learning.

Literature Wales

Literature Wales is the national company for the development of literature. Its vision is a Wales where literature empowers, improves and brightens lives.

Working in Welsh, English and bilingually, Literature Wales funds, facilitates and directly delivers a literary programme across Wales. Its activities are structured into three Activity Pillars:

Participation – inspiring some of our most marginalised individuals and communities through active participation in literature.

Writer Development – developing the creative and professional potential of early career writers.

Wales’ Literary Culture – celebrating our contemporary writers and the literary heritage of Wales.

Core activities include: Wales Book of the Year; National Poet of Wales; Bardd Plant Cymru and the Children’s Laureate Wales; Her 100 Cerdd; the community engagement initiative, Lit Reach | Llên Pawb; the Writers’ Bursaries and Mentoring Schemes; creative writing courses at Tŷ Newydd; the Writers on Tour funding scheme; and more.

Literature Wales is a registered charity, and works with the support of Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government.
