You will have seen the good news that we have been asked to distribute £1.5m to provide support to arts organisations, and Arts Council of Wales is keen to move quickly to make sure that we can distribute this funding as effectively as possible.( Written Statement: Additional funding for the culture and sport Arm’s Length Bodies and Cadw )
It is being provided to us to increase organisational resilience support, which will maximise the longer-term impact and help to strengthen arts organisations in Wales. For many, this could also include protecting jobs in the arts sector.
In order to provide us with information around the scale of demand for this funding, and how we should best approach its distribution, it would be helpful if you could email us at businesssupport@arts.wales and give us a brief outline of the situation your company is facing (you don’t need a huge amount of detail at this stage) and how funding might help you to improve your longer term resilience. You should include an estimated figure of how much you feel your organisation might need wherever possible (recognising that the demand is likely to outstrip the budget available). Once we’ve had a chance to review these, we will be in a position to decide on the most appropriate next steps and to make further announcements about an application process. We anticipate that this will be open before the end of October but please email us before the end of September so that it can inform our thinking. We also want to be as adaptable and responsive as possible in our approach.
