Join us on Friday 4 July for the latest webinar in our Resilient Theatres: Resilient Communities programme - Theatre Operations: Martyn’s Law and maintenance plans.

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 is also known as Martyn’s law in memory of Martyn Hett, who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing. The Act was given Royal Assent in April 2025.

Security consultant Sarah Dever will provide an overview of the Act, which aims to help certain public premises reduce their vulnerability to terrorism and improve their preparedness.  Sarah will be joined by Juliet Hayes from SOLT and UK Theatre, who will offer tips on what theatres of all sizes could start to think about now in preparation for the law coming into force in approximately two years’ time.

Two theatres will share their approaches to developing maintenance plans:

Fiona Harvey, Director of Estates and Facilities at Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, will talk about taking a strategic approach to maintenance including working with stakeholders and colleagues.

Andrew Roberts, Finance, Operations and People Director at Theatr Clwyd will talk about managing a building during capital redevelopment project.
