How can the use of the mixed media sculpture develop learners’ imagination, oracy skills and engagement with the Catholic Virtues?
Who we would like to work with
St Francis Catholic Primary School, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire are seeking two Creative Practitioners with sculpting skills and drama within the outdoors to work on a creative learning project with a group of primarily Early Years pupils (age 4-5) but also pupils from across the school (up to aged 11) in a collaborative project to create a sculpture that will support and develop the pupils understanding of our Catholic Virtues and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and to develop the ethos of a creative community across the school.
Sculpting Creative Practitioner
We are looking to creatively develop our outdoor learning area for use by the wider school as a legacy. We are looking for a skilled Sculpting practitioner who can support our learners to develop a creative piece(s) to enrich the school environment and support pupils across the whole school in their understanding of the Catholic Virtues and principles of Catholic Social Teaching. We would like the creative project to develop and support the development of the following skills in our learners:
- Planning
- Collaboration
- Talking and communicating
- Design
- Problem solving
- Generating ideas
- Measuring
- Health and safety when constructing
Drama Creative Practitioner
We would like to work with a Creative Practitioner with a background in drama and/or storytelling who can work with our learners and staff to use the newly created sculpture(s) to provide rich and varied story-telling experiences for our pupils to develop their understanding of the Catholic Virtues and principles of Catholic Social Teaching. You will help to bring out improvements in the teaching and learning of Expressive Arts in the school, improve outcomes for learners and develop their creativity. We are looking for someone who can draw out creativity in both staff and learners in a supportive environment where participants feel encouraged to experiment with new ideas and approaches. Both Creative Practitioners will facilitate a hands-on experience for our learners which will be shared with the school and its wider community.
Who we are
St Francis is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School serving the Catholic and Christian community of Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. We are a Catholic Voluntary Aided School which caters for the religious and educational needs of Catholic children age 3-11 years. The present number on roll is 138. The school comprises of five classes – Nursery/Reception, Year 1/2, Year 2/3, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. We aim to provide a happy, caring school, well established within the community, where high standards are expected and a firm foundation is developed to support your child’s future learning.
St Francis is a Catholic Primary School in which every individual grows in the knowledge and love of Christ. The Fee
The guide rate is £300 per full day and £150 per half day. This includes planning, implementation, and evaluation. Total number of days will be discussed during the planning days, which will be shared between the two practitioners. Travel expenses to be negotiated at interview. There will be a budget available for materials and resources etc.
