As part of a three-day online programme presented by Showcase Scotland, the Spotlight Cymru Wales event will now become a digital offering for delegates across the globe. On Friday 4 February 2022, marking the beginning of the UN Decade of Indigenous Languages and Dydd Miwsig Cymru, a showcase by 6 exciting and diverse Welsh artists will be screened at the digital edition of Showcase Scotland, alongside showcases from a selection of fantastic artists working in the Scots and Gaelic languages, before a closing reception where we look to the year ahead.
At the Spotlight Cymru Wales event, we invite delegates to join us for a digital programme of performances and interviews from 6 selected Welsh artists: Cynefin, Eve Goodman, N’famady Kouyaté, NoGood Boyo, Pedair and The Trials of Cato. The programme will be presented by Lisa Gwilym (BBC Radio Cymru) and Aleighcia Scott (artist and BBC Wales presenter). The event coincides with Dydd Miwsig Cymru (Welsh Language Music Day), a day where Welsh language music is celebrated worldwide, and will be attended by music industry delegates from across the world.
We are also excited to announce that an additional programme featuring performances from the 6 selected Welsh artists will be included in Celtic Connections’ digital programme of events. More information on this will be available soon through the Celtic Connections website.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to the teams at Celtic Connections and Showcase Scotland who have worked, and continue to work, tirelessly to bring audiences and artists from around the world together, to enjoy music and culture, and the opportunity to connect with each other.
