The Arts Council of Wales has launched a month-long research project to consider the accessibility of our website to those who use screen readers to access our site. This kind of software is most frequently used by blind or partially sighted individuals. The purpose of the research will be to consider whether changes are necessary to our website to make it even easier to access by those individuals with particular accessibility requirements.
Speaking today, Head of Communication, Arts Council of Wales, Siôn Brynach, said:
“When the Council’s new website was launched back in 2019, it was a clear goal for us to make it as accessible as possible to as many users as possible. It was a matter of pride to us that it reached the AAA accessibility standard, and we have made great efforts since then to ensure it retains this standard.
“However, resting on our laurels is not an option, and we must always identify and work towards realising the next improvement. Consequently, during the next month, we’ll be asking those individuals who access our website by means of a screen reader to help us by completing a short questionnaire on their experience of the website at the end of their visit. The feedback we receive will be a great help to us as we consider the next steps in the website’s development”.
