After a glorious summer filled with sunshine, Creative Learning Cymru are delighted to welcome back teachers and learners in our schools across the breadth of the country, with a fresh, new programme of activities. As well as the continuation of our existing Have a Go and Go and See funds, we’re delighted to launch our new Explore, Experiment and Extend programmes. Take a closer look at what’s on offer and see where the Creative Learning journey can take you.

Explore

Explore is a free, inspiring professional learning programme for teachers, support staff, and school leaders across Wales who want to teach with purpose, passion, and creativity. Led by expert Creative Learning Training Facilitators, Explore offers hands-on sessions that focus on creativity across the curriculum, literacy, and health & wellbeing, all rooted in our Creative Learning pedagogy.

This isn’t your typical professional learning. Explore invites you to step outside the ordinary and experiment with fresh, creative approaches to teaching. Whether you're new to Creative Learning or looking to deepen your practice, you'll leave energised, motivated, and equipped with practical ideas you can use straight away in the classroom.

Expect a joyful, reflective learning experience, surrounded by a supportive community of like-minded educators.

Explore is open to all educators working in maintained and voluntary-aided schools across Wales, including primary, secondary, special schools, and specialist teaching facilities. Whether you're joining for the first time or returning, everyone is welcome.

The themes for 2025–26 are:

* Autumn term: Creative Learning across the Curriculum

* Spring term: Creative Learning for Literacy

* Summer term: Creative Learning for Health & Wellbeing

If you're ready to reconnect with your passion for teaching, learn new approaches aligned with the Curriculum for Wales, and enjoy a day of learning filled with creativity, good food, and laughter—then Explore is for you.

Experiment

Experiment is a grant opportunity for primary, secondary, and special schools looking to rethink how teaching and learning happens. It invites schools to work with a Creative Learning Partner to co-design and deliver enquiry-led learning experiences that are creative, authentic, and rooted in real-world relevance.

This is a chance to make a meaningful impact on your learners by exploring new approaches to literacy, health and wellbeing, and/or creative learning across the curriculum. You’ll be supported to take creative risks, deepen engagement, and energise your teaching practice — all while staying aligned with your school’s development priorities.

Each participating school will receive 10 days of support from a Creative Learning Partner, a £2,000 grant for additional resources, creative practitioners or trips, and access to professional learning. The enquiry will be shaped by your learners’ voices and your school’s goals, evolving from a blank page into something truly transformative.

Experiment is open to all maintained and voluntary-aided schools, including specialist teaching facilities. You don’t need to have Expressive Arts experience — creativity is a skill for life and relevant across all areas of learning.

Whether you're new to creative learning or returning to deepen your practice, this is your opportunity to experiment, adapt, reflect and grow.

Deadline: 12pm, Thursday 16 October 2025

Extend – Creative Leadership Programme

The Creative Leadership Programme, delivered in partnership between the Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government, is a funded opportunity designed to support school leaders in Wales who are keen to explore creative and innovative approaches to leadership and learning. If you're a middle or senior leader—or aspiring to be one—and want to bring the new Curriculum for Wales to life in engaging and authentic ways, this programme offers a unique chance to do just that.

Participants begin with a two-day training session led by the Creative Leadership team. Following this, each school leader is paired with a Creative Agent who acts as both a coach and a critical friend, offering tailored support over a 23–26 week period. Together, you’ll explore new ways of working, reflect on your practice, and build confidence in creative leadership. You’ll also take part in networking events and a final sharing session to connect with peers and share your journey.

The programme is open to leaders in all Areas of Learning Experience—not just the Expressive Arts—and is available to those working in state-maintained early years or school settings in Wales. Applications from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds are especially welcomed.

Supply cover costs are provided for attending the training, networking events, and the final sharing session. While there’s no direct grant funding for schools, the time spent with your Creative Agent is flexible and designed to fit around your existing commitments. Please note that travel and subsistence costs are the responsibility of the school.

The deadline to apply is 12pm Wednesday 22 October 2025.
