We promote environmental stewardship and support community health and wellbeing through creativity, collaboration, and shared heritage.

Project Overview: Botanical Colour – The Redpath Way

Botanical Colour – The Redpath Way is an innovative oral history and skills preservation project focused on reviving and documenting the extensive natural dye recipes developed by Margaret and David Redpath—renowned natural dye experts and the final owners of Wallis Woollen Mill in North Pembrokeshire. The project is led by Abi Makepeace and supported by partners including the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Span Arts, Tenby Museum, and Narberth Museum.

The project includes:

●  Recreating historic dye recipes

●  Recording oral histories from those connected to the mill

●  Planting natural dye gardens

●  Building and engaging a large digital audience

●  Creating digital learning resources

●  Delivering workshops, exhibitions, talks, and school collaborations

●  Publishing a freely disseminated project publication

This role will involve travel across Pembrokeshire, including visits to Makepeace Studio in Carew and the dye workshop in New Hedges. A valid driving licence and access to personal transport are essential. Travel and subsistence expenses will be covered.

Administrative tasks can be carried out from home, so you’ll need access to your own computer.

●  Contribute to the creation of an accessible and engaging digital archive, helping preserve knowledge and experience for future audiences.

●  Maintain a consistent, creative, and high-quality digital presence that maximises public engagement and reflects the values of the project.

Logistics & Resource Management

Ensure the right resources are in the right place at the right time.

● Coordinate the availability of materials and equipment for workshops, sessions, and events.

●  Oversee the maintenance and tidiness of studio and workshop spaces to ensure safe and productive environments.

●  Manage the travel and subsistence budget responsibly and transparently.

●  Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure safe working conditions for staff, volunteers, and participants.
