Applications are now open to emerging choreographers and dance companies from Wales, to apply to Ransack Dance Company’s Arrive at Home project. The project culminates in a performance opportunity, to share work-in-progress or newly completed dance work, at the Arrive Dance Platform at our company base, ‘YMa, a Place for Culture, Creativity and Arts’ in Pontypridd.

Emerging Choreographers and companies can apply to the programme to receive support in creating and rehearsing new work and to share the work at the Arrive Dance Platform to test out new ideas and receive audience feedback. The project will take place from January to March 2025, with the platform event on Friday 28th March.

Participating choreographers/companies will receive the following support:

  • 10 hours of free rehearsal space at YMa, scheduled by the choreographer/company between January and March in-line with their availability.
  • Additional rehearsal space will then be available at a greatly reduced rental fee of £10 per hour (daytime rental – booked more than one week in advance)
  • Additional rehearsal space will be available for free, if booked 1 week or less in advance of need and the space is available.
  • Peer feedback and support through scheduled studio sharing sessions between ‘Arrive’ artists and Ransack Dance Company artists.
  • Mentoring and/or dramaturgy support from Ransack’s Artistic Director, Sarah Rogers.
  • Performance opportunity at the Arrive Dance Platform at YMa, on Friday 28th March.
  • Photos and film of the performance piece and audience feedback (written and post-show discussion).

Performance Fee for Arrive Dance Platform:

Each choreographer and performer involved in the Arrive Dance Platform will receive £100 (solos, duets or groups of up to 4 people).

Groups/companies of over 4 people can apply, but a maximum payment of £400 to each group will be made. We expect in these cases, that the choreographer/company will match fund the opportunity, to be able to pay additional performers fairly.

How to Apply:

For more information and/or to apply email info@ransackdance.co.uk

To apply please email us for an application form which will ask for information about yourself/your company and the work you wish to create/develop and present at the platform.

Choreographers/companies can apply with new work-in-progress pieces that you have already started to create through previous projects, that you aim to further develop through the Arrive Project (as long as you see this work to still be in its early stages of creation/development). Or, you can apply with an idea for completely brand-new work, not yet created, which you will propose in your application and create from scratch through the project. We are looking for dance work that is between approx 10 and 15 minutes in duration and in any dance style.

We are particularly interested in finding choreographers/companies who are based in Wales for this opportunity. However, we will also accept choreographer/companies currently based outside of Wales, if you can clearly demonstrate close links to Wales and a want to work and/or be based in Wales in the future.

The project is funded by the Jerwood Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales
