This week Cymunedoli, a new community network, launches formally in a special stall at the National Eisteddfod in Boduan, which will offer inspiration and advice for anyone looking to act on a community level. To coincide with the launch, Cymunedoli will be sharing brand new digital content in a takeover of AM's homepage over the week!

“A community of communities” and “Collective strength” are some of slogans for the Cymunedoli Cyf - a network of 26 community initiatives that was formed following a series of informal conversations over the summer of 2022 with the goal of creating a network to support each other’s efforts, strengthening community action across the County, and increasing local capacity.

According to Sel Williams, one of the founders of Cymunedoli Cyf, the potential of the network is enormous:

“What Cymunedoli Cyf offers is a groundbreaking and fair model in which communities lead and control the action. The social, cultural, environmental, and economic worth of our work is invaluable in terms of maintaining healthy and robust communities. Our hope with Cymunedoli Cyf is that we offer one another subsistence and support but that we also inspire others with what’s possible by operating locally and working together.”

The range of initiatives is expansive – from initiatives based in a specific location such as Yr Orsaf Penygroes, Galeri Caernarfon, Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog and Partneriaeth Ogwen and other initiatives working within specific sectors including the care and wellness sector, hospitality, transport, energy, community-owned pubs and more. During the week, each day will focus on a different theme of community action with presentations, panel discussions and various workshops.

New digital content promoting the work of Cymunedoli Cyf members following the daily themes will be showcased on AM's homepage. AM is also screening a special film featuring discussions with some of the Cymunedoli founders. You can enjoy it all on AM's homepage and on Cymunedoli's new channel now!
