Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Government are delighted to announce a brand-new strand to the Creative learning through the arts programme which will see teachers, creative practitioners and learners explore how creative learning approaches can re-ignite learning experiences in classrooms across Wales during the Summer Term.

The Creative learning Recovery Fund is a short intervention designed to support your school with engaging learners, improving well-being, and supporting improvements to oracy. It will bring enjoyment back into the learning environment.

Adapting the successful approaches and techniques from our ground-breaking and internationally recognised Lead Creative Schools Scheme, the Creative learning Recovery Fund will use the Creative Habits of Mind and the High Functioning Classroom to nurture creativity.

Activity could focus on a theme, topic or Area of Learning and Experience. It could develop oracy skills, engaging learners through discussions and sharing creative ideas. Pupil voice could be used to encourage learners to collaborate and design the activity. Activity could spark learners’ imaginations and encourage them to question the world in which they live. They could develop new skills and techniques with the support of a creative practitioner. Activity will support pupils to develop and share their learning between sessions in imaginative and creative ways. The possibilities are endless.

Successful schools will be awarded a grant of £1,000 to pay for four days of creative practitioner time during the Summer term. These can be consecutive days or divided into half days or shorter sessions spread over several weeks.

A one half-day professional learning experience for participating teachers will enable them to explore the key principles that sit behind creative learning approaches.

Interested schools should register on our application portal.
