Responding to Welsh Government's draft budget announcement, which saw the funding for the Arts Council of Wales increase by1.5% in revenue funding for 22/23, and level funding for capital, Rebecca Nelson, Accounting Officer and Director of Finance, Arts Council of Wales said:
“This is a very welcome announcement and is an important reaffirmation of the vital importance of the arts in supporting the well-being of the people of Wales.
"Throughout the Covid pandemic artists and arts organisations have shown great imagination and resilience. They have continued to provide opportunities for enjoyment, inspiration and comfort during the past difficult 21 months.
"The Welsh Government’s support allows this to continue and will help protect jobs and livelihoods across the arts and the creative industries. The Arts Council meets next month to confirm its spending plans for 2022/23.”
