We are seeking to strengthen our Access Support Network and grow our capacity to help applicants overcome barriers when applying for our funding. By formalising this network, we aim to build a stronger, more connected community of providers.
We are looking to form a network of up to 15 experienced individuals from diverse backgrounds.
What is Access Support?
Access support is available to people who are D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, experiencing learning difficulties, mental health conditions, or poor health.
Support is usually put in place to help applicants prepare and submit an application, but it can also be provided before an application is made, or to help write completion reports after a project ends.
Our principles of inclusive support are: respect, empowerment, person-led, and well-being.
The Role
Access support providers help applicants communicate their own ideas in their own words.
They must not:
• Give development or bid-writing advice
• Make assumptions about an applicant’s needs or proposal
• Deliver one-size-fits-all support
Instead, providers tailor support to each individual’s requirements. More information on how access support works at ACW can be found on our website.
Payment
• Rate: up to £37.50 per hour
• 1 day = 8 hours
• Purchase orders are raised when support is agreed, and providers invoice us once the work is complete.
Person Specification
We are looking for freelancers with:
• Excellent communication, empathy, compassion, and adaptability
• Patience, sensitivity, and good time-management
• IT skills and access to a laptop with Teams/Zoom
• Experience supporting people from the groups listed above
Providers should feel confident delivering flexible, effective support, and empowering applicants by removing barriers to our services.
Well-being is central to this work. We equally value the well-being of applicants, staff, and support providers. Familiarity with well-being practices and CIISA safeguarding standards is important.

• Minimum capacity of nine days per year is expected.
