These annual surveys scrutinise important elements such as attendance, participation and attitudes towards arts activities in wales.

We carry out several annual surveys for different purposes.

Wales Omnibus Survey

Every year, since 1993, the Arts Council of Wales has carried out an annual attendance and participation reasearch survey.

Information is collected on attendance to arts events and participation in artistic activities via a series of questions asked on the Beaufort Research Ltd Wales Omnibus survey in November. At least 1,000 interviews are conducted each year with a sample designed to be representative of the adult population resident in Wales aged 16 and over.

Local Authority Arts Expenditure Survey

Since 2013 the Arts Council of Wales has worked in partnership with Arts Development UK (ADUK) on a combined local authority arts investment and partnership survey that would seek to address the needs of both organisations.

ADUK sent an online survey to all local authorities in Wales to assess the level of arts spending forecast for 2015/16 and for the first time, a separate but comparable survey, for outsourced services.
