Creu Cymru Freelancer Brief
Creu Cymru, the development agency for the professional performing arts sector in Wales is looking for a freelance marketing and communications specialist to work with us to promote the work of the organisation, boost members and identify press opportunities.
- To manage the marketing and communications for Creu Cymru.
- To promote the membership of Creu Cymru and encourage new members.
- To write press releases for events, campaigns, and news.
- To gather case studies from members to aid how we talk about member benefits.
- To identify press opportunities to promote the organisation and members.
- To create the monthly members newsletter.
- To aid staff with the content for social media.
- To create marketing materials for events and activity.
WHO ARE WE?
Creu Cymru is the development agency for the professional performing arts sector in Wales. Our members represent virtually all of the nation’s professionally run theatres and arts centres and producing companies, at a diverse range of scales.
Creu Cymru is, first and foremost, a collaborative network; we share information, expertise, research, touring, advocacy… and above all, a will to develop programmes and audiences. We work together to support an ever more resilient resource at the heart of communities across Wales.
Creu Cymru was established by and for the network of professionally-managed presenting theatres and arts centres across Wales in 2001 as the Touring Agency for Wales with a two-year Lottery grant from the Arts Council of Wales.
In delivering this work we collaborate with a wide range of commercial and public partners in Wales, elsewhere in the UK and internationally.
On behalf of the Arts Council of Wales Creu Cymru also manages “hynt”, ACW’s national card access scheme supporting the development of accessibility and inclusive arts practice for audiences across Wales.
Following a review of our programme and management in 2020 we plan to expand our membership remit to include producing companies, to bring the performing arts sector together to speak with a collective voice, to share resources and expertise and to promote collaborative working.
The creation of this unified sector through an expanded membership ensures cross-sector representation, new collaborations and aligning of interests, and new partnerships.
This rollout will start from April onwards and this roll will work closely alongside the Director to promote and drive membership figures and income.
£200 a day for 4 days per month to be reviewed after 6 months with a possible extension of 6 months.
Creu Cymru staff work from home in locations across Wales but meet in person (when able) every few months, in an equally convenient location. We would expect this role to meet with the wider team in person at least once within the six months, in addition to online meetings.
The organisation consists of Louise Miles-Payne, Director (FT), Yvonne O’Donovan, Administrator (FT) and Megan Merrett, Project Administrator (PT).
Full Membership is open to any Wales based professional organisation whose principal purpose is producing, presenting or curating performing arts work. Membership is held in the organisation’s name and all employees can benefit from membership.
Individual Membership is open to any Wales-based professional performing arts worker You will also receive our newsletter and access to the member only area of our website and closed Facebook group.
Associate Membership (introduced in 2022)
Associate Membership is open to Wales based professional organisations working within the theatre or dance sector in a supporting or strategic capacity that can also support the mission of Creu Cymru but whose principal purpose is not producing, presenting or curating performing arts work. Membership is held in the organisation’s name and all employees can benefit from membership.
This includes organisations outside of the creative sector who wish to engage with those within the sector.
We aim to incorporate as much Welsh language into our communities as we can. If you can create materials in both languages that would be desirable. We also have a modest budget for translation.
We are looking for someone to start from April onwards.
